Here’s just one of the hardworking local producers that we’re proud to support…
Real beer brewed in the Village of Cumberland
Cumberland Brewing Company (CBC) is a small microbrewery happily serving thirsty patrons in the dynamic little village of Cumberland.
From idea to doors open in one calendar year, Cumberland Brewing has taken the microbrewery business by storm. Owners Darren, Caroline and Mike have built a community hub where activists, creatives, oil patch workers, mountain bikers and parents unite to drink and converse.
With the main focus on direct sales at the brewery, CBC offers a tasty line-up of varying flavours on tap sure to please any palate. Patrons can also indulge at home with freshly filled 1 litre squealers and 1.89 litre growlers, as well as freshly tapped kegs at select establishments around the Comox Valley – like Union Street Grill!
What’s so good about CBC beer?
Since opening its doors in December 2014, Cumberland Brewing Company’s been a happening place. With a constant rotation of thirsty patrons enjoying both the cozy tasting room and the spacious patio area, it’s getting hard to find a seat on a Friday night! (Don’t worry, we’ll find a spot for you at Union Street, where you can always enjoy a cold CBC brew.)
From India session ale, to English style bitter, to an Oatmeal Stout, there’s never a taste bud that’s ignored. CBC also serves local wine and cider to satisfy those non-beer types—if you’re one of those.
How good is CBC beer? It won Best Beer at Tapped, Mount Washington’s popular annual beer fest. With more than 15 breweries from Vancouver Island to the East Coast represented, the rookies knocked it out of the park.
Once you try the beer you’ll know what all the fuss is about.
We’re proudly serving two types of tasty craft beer from Cumberland Brewing Company.
The Tropical Hop is a sessionable IPA with citrus and tropical fruits on the nose, and a great hop flavour to balance. With lots of hoping and a lower alcohol content, this is a highly drinkable beer
Always a favourite, CBC’s Red Tape is a genuinely good pale ale. Combining a little more malt body with more hops to meet it, this pale ale is malt forward, aromatic and amber in colour. It’s a solid choice of beer for all the pale ale lovers out there.
Why do we choose Cumberland Brewing Company?
Passionate about beer and being part of something good, the people at Cumberland Brewing Company believe “Cumberland deserves good beer.” They’re definitely serving up good beer—and good karma.
CBC regularly gives back to the community in a number of ways and they encourage their patrons to do the same. They’re huge supporters of the Cumberland Community Forest Society, donating a portion of every litre of Forest Fog they sell and recently hosting a garage sale with proceeds benefitting the forest.
At the front counter they’ve even included a wall with names of people who’ve been gifted credit for beer from other patrons. Wouldn’t it make your day to walk in and find that someone’s paid it forward to you with a nice, cold, local beer?
