About Fannie Blanchet
Fannie Blanchet is a portrait painter living in the Comox Valley.
Painting female portraits with acrylic on plywood support, Fannie explores the plurality of womanhood and showcases her fascination with light, shadow, colour, contrast, and shape. Through her characters she expresses fragments of emotion that are commonly found throughout a women’s life.
Born in Quebec, with a sculptor/art teacher father, Fannie began her exploration of the creative process at an early age through drawing and craft. After pursuing studies in French Literature and Philosophy, she was drawn to writing poetry and short stories. Most recently, her artist passions have extended to painting.
Curious about all forms of art, she also enjoys photography, cinema, and literature. Her love of nature is satisfied by the beautiful Cumberland Forest, sitting in her backyard.
