Fabulous destination in downtown Courtenay! One of my favourite restaurants in the Comox Valley. My mouth is watering already…whether I’m ordering one of my standard menu choices or feeling adventurous, I’m guaranteed good quality fresh food. A great menu selection and they have the gluten free options nailed down.

Gluten free heaven! We stop here every time we are in town just because of the gluten free menu and kitchen. I can eat here and not have to worry about any hidden factors that will make me sick 3 hours later. They have excellent selection and great customer service!

The Grill and the Grotto – get a 5 star rating from me. We go to Union Street Grill and Grotto restaurant if we want to eat “good food” because they never let us down. If we want to eat local produce and drink local wine – they’ve got it. If we want seafood that’s been harvested sustainably and an atmosphere that is comfortable with friendly staff – they’ve got it.

GF menu and a play place for the kids! Hard to beat!

Wonderful fresh sandwiches and drinks with great service and friendly staff! Close to little shops and services, easy to walk to form hotels.

Had dinner at The Grotto side (they have two section, The Grill, casual counter service, and the Grotto which has table service, same menu both sides) and was thoroughly impressed. The food was great and the service top notch. Have eaten on the Grill side as well and the food and service was just as good. Always a go to place in Courtenay, for either something casual or a little more formal.

Have eaten here twice before and am consistently impressed with the place. The servers are super accommodating and the menu is a tough one to choice from! It’s a great mix of meat-lover and vegetarian options & they even have a gluten free menu! The Vegan Chili was amazing and I’ve been told the Salmon Fish Tacos are to die for! I hope to return to try the mushroom burger. Overall was highly impressed with Union Street!

Accommodated to my extremely restrictive dietary needs! – I couldn’t eat any salt due to a test, and it didn’t even phase them. I learned all of their burgers have 0 salt! they were so lovely with me, and they didn’t make me feel like a burden at all. food was delicious, service amazing, i will be back and recommend you try them out!

For a Saturday evening we went back to the U.Street Grill and had no trouble finding a table right away. Prompt service landed us each a small started salad, one Ceasar and one Spinach. Both very fresh and excellently made-up. We decided for a pasta main-dish and to our surprise, it was as good as what we usually have at Toscanos, the little Italian restaurant in Comox. Friendly service, good food and a pleasant atmosphere! We will be back soon!

We live hours away and come into Courtenay to load up on supplies. But first we stop at the Union Street Grill for lunch. Today I had one of the daily soups — a tomato ratatouille with roasted veggies and a side of yam fries with the herbed mayo dip. Both were delicious. sadly we never have room for dessert because I’d really like to try their cheesecakes or cookies. The service was attentive and I look forward to my next visit.

Together with a business colleague, I recently stopped for dinner at the Union Street Grill. First visit so I didn’t know quite what to expect, and was delighted by the menu. It includes choices from several different cuisines to give you a wide range of flavors. Seating was prompt and the atmosphere was comfortable. I began with a delightfully fresh caesar salad. Jambalaya was my main course; fresh ingredients brought to full flavor by careful seasoning. A wonderful experience. My colleague had a gluten-free dinner he very much appreciated. He’d visited the Union Street Grill several times before and knew he was in for a good dinner. We both skipped desert (I couldn’t have eaten more if I tried) although they looked great. Prices are reasonable for the food served. Check out their menu online. To sum up, I look forward to returning for another dinner…for cajun food on Vancouver Island. Or maybe Italian. Mexican? Thai? Hmmmmmm……too many great choices. Guess I’ll need four or five trips to really get to know it.

My wife and I had dinner at the Grill last night and we wanted to try it out for it now has new owners. The menu has a very extensive Gluten Free section as well as a west coast theme menu. We both had Jambalaya for it was the special of the day and it was packed with local shellfish. The spinach salad and pecan square were also well presented and tasty. The waitress provided great service and the food came out in a timely manor.
