Fabulous destination in downtown Courtenay! One of my favourite restaurants in the Comox Valley. My mouth is watering already…whether I’m ordering one of my standard menu choices or feeling adventurous, I’m guaranteed good quality fresh food. A great menu selection and they have the gluten free options nailed down.

The Grill and the Grotto – get a 5 star rating from me. We go to Union Street Grill and Grotto restaurant if we want to eat “good food” because they never let us down. If we want to eat local produce and drink local wine – they’ve got it. If we want seafood that’s been harvested sustainably and an atmosphere that is comfortable with friendly staff – they’ve got it.

GF menu and a play place for the kids! Hard to beat!

Have eaten here twice before and am consistently impressed with the place. The servers are super accommodating and the menu is a tough one to choice from! It’s a great mix of meat-lover and vegetarian options & they even have a gluten free menu! The Vegan Chili was amazing and I’ve been told the Salmon Fish Tacos are to die for! I hope to return to try the mushroom burger. Overall was highly impressed with Union Street!

Together with a business colleague, I recently stopped for dinner at the Union Street Grill. First visit so I didn’t know quite what to expect, and was delighted by the menu. It includes choices from several different cuisines to give you a wide range of flavors. Seating was prompt and the atmosphere was comfortable. I began with a delightfully fresh caesar salad. Jambalaya was my main course; fresh ingredients brought to full flavor by careful seasoning. A wonderful experience. My colleague had a gluten-free dinner he very much appreciated. He’d visited the Union Street Grill several times before and knew he was in for a good dinner. We both skipped desert (I couldn’t have eaten more if I tried) although they looked great. Prices are reasonable for the food served. Check out their menu online. To sum up, I look forward to returning for another dinner…for cajun food on Vancouver Island. Or maybe Italian. Mexican? Thai? Hmmmmmm……too many great choices. Guess I’ll need four or five trips to really get to know it.

We were looking through Trip Advisor for a restaurant to eat at last night and Union Street Grill seemed to fit our needs – casual + seafood + burgers. We were in no way disappointed. We ate on the Grotto side which was a lovely casual setting. Our waitress said that it was a busier than usual night, but still she seemed to manage it single-handled with a smile on her face. Our meal was nothing short of excellent. We had the oysters for our appetizer and jambalaya and lamb burger for our dinner. It was all amazing. Cooked to perfection and the right combination of spices and flavor. We will definitely return on our next trip to Courtenay.

I enjoy frequenting this restaurant when ever i visit family and friends in the valley. They have fantastic menu options for gluten free , vegetarian . I enjoy the locally sourced menu items with great flavours.

Another Courtenay favourie eating spot. Don’t miss their screaming fries, Jumbolaya, Grilled Caeser Salad, a gluten-free menu and much more. The Grotto, the less formal side, has tapas to delight and fine musicians to dine by on a regular basis. The restaurant has just changed management after being run by the same folks for 20 years and the new owners are sticking to the successful business plan. Always reliable, always tasty, and friendly service located in the centre of downtown Courtenay.

Wow! What lovely food! My med-rare AAA 6oz steak was done to perfection. The yam mash was so yummy and the greens really added color to the dish as well as a hint of sweetness with the dressing – which was courteously placed on the side! The price was fair – I would have paid more for it, that’s how good it was (not suggesting you raise your prices). A chocolate espresso martini for dessert was amazing! Our server Amy was also lovely and delivered perfect service 🙂
