Jillian Gathright has rightfully earned recognition as one of Comox Valley’s fine female vocalists. After a couple of busy, yet rewarding decades spent raising her two children, Jill found herself drawn to a lifelong passion that had been on the back-burner… Music. And more specifically… Singing!!!
Lack of time, opportunity and fear had all contributed to Jill not making her interest in singing a priority before. But Jill has embarked on a new chapter in her life — the music chapter — and is not looking back! The shift came when she reached that ‘certain age’, where she became less inhibited and more willing to take risks, which singing in front of people certainly felt like in the beginning! And, of course, the encouragement and support that she has received on this newfound journey has been integral to her success. Jill is endlessly grateful to the individuals that have supported her in so many ways; other musicians, the audiences, and her family.
Jill has ‘paid her dues’ in a relatively short period of time. Her entry into the professional music scene was not without adversity, but she has come through it singing! She has tasted success and pulls an audience, as well as has gained the respect of accomplished players who are always pleased to accompany her.
Jill’s extremely broad taste in music is evident as she presents unique versions of a wide variety of genres. She makes each song her own with her voice, which is tastefully seasoned by her life’s experiences. She is proud to be accompanied by some of the Valley’s best musicians, and always brings a relaxed and comfortable energy to her performances.
Some of Jill’s other interests include drawing and painting ( jillsartstudio.com), gardening, photography, and family.
